I was dithering over how to complete this one, then downloaded a new piece of software GrafxShop. A random try-out of the built-in 'frames' produced this: I rather like the contrast between the sharp flame and faux-scratchy/old photo frame, though I'm sure it won't appeal to all. However, comments welcome!

I had to check out your Latin too, which led me to here. Don't know if you've visited the site, but there are many more 'useful' phrases rendered in that venerable language. One of my favourites from an Iris Murdoch novel was "sic biscuitus disintegrat" - "that's the way the cookie crumbles"
